Drake Maye has led the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl this season, in only his second year in the NFL. However, amid Maye’s rise to stardom, radio host Ken Laird has hinted that former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady might be a tad jealous of the success that the 23-year-old is enjoying this season.

On Tuesday, Laird explained what he felt about Brady’s recent comments about the seven-time Super Bowl winner not watching Maye enough to judge the young QB.

“He is rattled beyond belief at this success that Drake is having,” Laird said on the “Ken & Curtis” show on Boston radio’s WEEI station. “I am stunned that Tom Brady lied and said he’s only seen 12 of his plays in two years.

Brady played with the Patriots for 20 years and won six Super Bowls. He also won one Super Bowl in his first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.

In August, the Patriots honored Brady with a 12-foot bronze statue of the QB at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Nonetheless, Maye will be leading the Patriots to their first Super Bowl in the post-Brady era. He will look to topple the Seattle Seahawks in the big game on Sunday.

Drake Maye is one of the candidates to win the MVP award for this season. He is likely to face competition from LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford for the individual award.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen, who won the award last season, are the other finalists for the MVP award.

The MVP award winner will be announced at the NFL Honors 2026 on Thursday.
