Puka Nacua seemingly mocks Sam Darnold as $100.5M QB leads Seahawks to 29-13 Super Bowl win vs. Patriots

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had a relatively quiet game during their Super Bowl LX showdown against the Patriots. Despite this, they managed to take home the victory and secure the Lombardi trophy with a 29-13 final score.

However, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua seemingly took a shot at Darnold despite their Super Bowl victory. On X, the two-time Pro Bowler shared a cryptic tweet mentioning the quarterback’s name with a laughing emoji. This prompted questions about whether he was making fun of Darnold’s performance.

In another tweet that Nacua deleted, he also questioned Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s performance. The second-year starter struggled to get his offense into momentum against Mike Macdonald’s defense.

The Seahawks found themselves with a 9-0 lead at halftime thanks to three field goals by placekicker Jason Myers. In the second half, they extended this lead to 12-0 before Drake Maye finally put the Patriots on the scoreboard with a 35-yard TD pass to wide receiver Mack Hollins.

With 4:21 left in the fourth quarter, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu intercepted the Patriots quarterback to score a defensive touchdown. Maye scored another passing touchdown, but it was not enough to help his team make a comeback.

Sam Darnold ended the night completing 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. On the other hand, Drake Maye completed 27 of 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Darnold began his NFL journey with the New York Jets in 2018. Last season, he served as the Qb1 of the Minnesota Vikings in place of the injured J.J. McCarthy. He helped the team make the playoffs, where they lost to the Rams in a wild-card game.

The Vikings decided not to retain the quarterback. In March, he agreed to a three-year deal worth $100.5 million with the Seahawks. During the regular season, Darnold recorded 4,048 yards and 25 TDs passing.
