The WM Phoenix Open 2026 concluded on Sunday, February 8, with Chris Gotterup shooting a 7-under 64 and then beating Hideki Matsuyama in a thrilling playoff. The 26-year-old golfer has now won two titles in less than two months.

The 2026 WM Phoenix Open featured a star-studded field with many top-ranked players in action at TPC Scottsdale. While the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Hideki Matsuyama lived up to their reputations, a few names fell short and failed to meet fans’ expectations.

Here is a look at five players who underperformed at the TPC Scottsdale.

Brooks Koepka played his second event since rejoining the PGA Tour but couldn’t make an impression. The former winner at TPC Scottsdale opened with a 75 and found himself in the wrong half. He tried hard and shot 69 on day two but still fell three strokes below the cut line.

2) Cameron Young

Cameron Young was +2200 coming into this week and was the third favorite to win the title. However, he failed to take his game to the next level, shooting 70, 69, 69 and 71 to tie for 41st at 5-under.

3) Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa is another big name who had an underwhelming week at the WM Phoenix Open 2026. The two-time major champion was +3500 at TPC Scottsdale but shot 72, 69, 71 and 69 to finish at 3-under and tie for 54th, 13 strokes back.

4) Jordan Spieth

Jordan Spieth was playing his second event of the season and his first since the Sony Open. While he had a decent outing in Hawaii, he failed to make the cut this week after shooting 70 and 75.

Spieth is looking to end his title drought as he hasn’t won anything since the 2022 RBC Heritage.

5) Nick Taylor

Nick Taylor won at TPC Scottsdale a couple of years ago but did not have an impressive week this time. He shot 71, 68, 71 and 67 to finish at 7-under. The five-time PGA Tour winner tied for 28th, nine strokes back.
