Justin Rose will be looking to pick up his second PGA Tour win of the season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.
However, if Rose is to chalk up his second victory of the season, he will have to get the better of world number one, Scottie Scheffler.
Meanwhile, Scheffler is yet to win at Pebble Beach throughout his career to date.
However, the man from Dallas, Texas, will be doing everything in his power this week to change that.
Englishman Rose is a huge fan of the American, and it’s little wonder why.
Rose recently compared Scheffler with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus and that tells us all we need to know about the 29-year-old’s quality.
Justin Rose makes Scottie Scheffler comment ahead of Pebble Beach Pro-Am
There is a real buzz around Pebble Beach this week for the first Signature Event of the season.
Many of the best players in the world are in attendance at the iconic venue in California.
Scheffler and Rose were out on the golf course working hard on their games on Tuesday in preparation for the start of the tournament on Thursday.
However, it appears as though Scheffler was having some fun during his practice round as well alongside his good friend, Si Woo Kim.
Rose addressed the media on Tuesday and lifted the lid on what he saw Scheffler doing during his practice round at Pebble in the windy conditions.
“It was so cool out there today,” Rose admitted.
“I was walking with a wedge and putter and Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim were playing the last few holes together, and they were just messing about having fun.
“They were hitting drivers into 17, kind of starting it left over the beach club, cutting it in. 18, kind of hitting the ball sideways off a tee pegged straight into the ocean and trying to get the ball to come back onto the fairway.
“As long as you don’t have a scorecard in your hand, these conditions can be really fun, but the minute you put a scorecard in your hand, it’s amazing how the brain doesn’t seem to enjoy it quite as much.“
That’s brilliant to hear.
As hard as Scheffler works on his game, he clearly is still a big kid at heart.
And it’s fair to argue that perhaps that is why he’s so good. He’s not overly serious all the time and keeping things light-hearted doesn’t put too much pressure on the big events.
Scottie Scheffler will be hard to beat at Pebble Beach
The 20-time PGA Tour winner is streets ahead of everyone else in the game right now.
Do you think Scottie Scheffler will beat Tiger Woods’ consecutive cuts record?
He’s not even halfway there right now…
Scheffler is obviously in very good spirits heading into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as he looks to make it 21 PGA Tour wins in four years.
Rose will be looking to win for the 14th time on the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile the likes of Rory McIlroy, Chris Gotterup and Tommy Fleetwood will fancy their chances of lifting the famous trophy as well.
We could be in for one seriously exciting week on America’s west coast!
