Jordan Spieth was paired with Xander Schauffele throughout the first two rounds of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday and Friday.
Interestingly, both Spieth and Schauffele finished on the same score after two rounds of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and they will play together again on Saturday.
Spieth has been in the PGA Tour doldrums for quite some time now, and he’s without a win since April 2022..
Do you believe Jordan Spieth can get back to his best?
How many times will he win on the PGA Tour this season?
Meanwhile, Schauffele only has one victory to his name over the past 19 months. So both players will be happy with where they’re sitting after two rounds on the Monterey Peninsula.
Interestingly, Schauffele has admitted to learning a lot from Spieth throughout the years, especially while watching him on TV while he was out injured.
Meanwhile, Spieth has been amazed by Schauffele’s ability to add more speed to his swing and distance to his tee shots over the past two years.
And the three-time major champion from Dallas, Texas, was blown away by the Californian’s power once again on Friday at Pebble Beach.
Jordan Spieth explains how far Xander Schauffele actually hits the ball
Spieth isn’t short, far from it. He actually averaged over 306 yards off the tee last season and was ranked 56th.
However, he’s averaging 320 yards in 2026 and is ranked 15th on the PGA Tour.
However, he’s nowhere near as long as his fellow countryman and close friend, Schauffele.
After his round, Spieth was being quizzed by reporters about the new tee on the sixth hole at Pebble Beach.
When explaining why he chose to hit a three-wood off the tee, he was asked whether Schauffele decided to be more aggressive and hit a driver.
“No, but he kills it,“ Spieth exclaimed.
“No, he mashed a 3-wood. He hit 3-wood where my drive would have gone.“
Spieth is suggesting that Schauffele hits his 3-wood over 300 yards, so it’s little wonder why he was so impressed with his fellow American’s prodigious power.
Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele in contention to win at Pebble Beach
Schauffele regularly reached mid-180 mph ball speeds, which is hugely impressive given the fact that he’s not a big guy.
What do you expect from Jordan Spieth in 2026?
Will he win on the PGA Tour this season?
However, the most impressive thing about Schauffele’s speed is that it looks so effortless and that he maintains his balance beautifully throughout his swing.
While the 32-year-old from San Diego has experienced a challenging past 18 months or so, he has shown some really positive signs so far in his home State this week.
The same can be said for Spieth.
Could 2026 be a year of redemption for both players?
Spieth and Schauffele are certainly in a strong position after two rounds of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not either of them can maintain that form over the course of the weekend.
