Anthony Kim got emotional after his win at the LIV Golf Adelaide 2026. The American golfer was phenomenal with his game this week in Australia and clinched his maiden LIV Golf title.
After getting relegated from the circuit last year, Kim secured his spot for this season in the league through the Promotions event, and in just his second game of the season, he clinched a title.
The former PGA Tour star grew emotional after the game while speaking to a reporter on the field.
“God gave me a talent,” he said. “I knew it was coming. Nobody else has to believe in me but me. For anybody struggling, you can get through anything.”
Notably, this is Anthony Kim’s first win in 16 years. His last professional win came in 2010 at the Shell Houston Open, a PGA Tour event.
He was close to a win in 2011 at the Lake Malaren Shanghai Masters but lost to Rory McIlroy in the playoff. He had surgery after he tore his Achilles tendon in 2012 and did not play the game for over a decade before he returned in 2024.
However, the last two seasons were tough for the 40-year-old golfer before he finally won a tournament this week.
A look into Anthony Kim’s performance at LIV Golf Adelaide
Anthony Kim did not have a visa to travel to Australia before the event, but it got approved at the last moment, and finally, he made it to play in the tournament. He started the tournament on Thursday with an opening round of 67, followed by the next round of 67.
Kim maintained the momentum heading into the final two rounds, and he played a round of 68 on Saturday. On Sunday, he started the game with a par on the first three holes. He made four birdies on the front nine and then five on the back nine for a brilliant round of 63. He settled for a total of 23-under.
After the third round of the event on Saturday, Kim talked about the game.
“It’s been a hell of a week,” he said.”Obviously not having a visa to get into this country was the start. I’ve worked hard, and I knew this day would come at some point. Obviously Bryson is at 20-something under or whatever he is, and he’s got a huge lead, but I’m at least putting myself where I feel like I belong, and the practice is paying off.”
Anthony Kim also played in the season-opening LIV Golf Riyadh event. There, he started the tournament with an opening round of 68 and then carded the next three rounds of 72, 69, and 66. He was tied for 22nd place.
