Kyler Murray had a forgettable 2025 NFL season. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback missed 12 games with injury and mustered just 962 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions in five games. There’s a chance that Murray has played his last game with the Cardinals.
NFL analyst Danny Parkins sees joining the Minnesota Vikings as a way out for Murray if he’s looking to rebuild his career.
“If you beat out JJ McCarthy… now you’ve got Brian Flores’ defense, Kevin O’Connell calling plays, and you’re throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson.” Parkins said on ‘First Things First.’

Sam Darnold famously got his career on track during his lone season with the Seattle Seahawks. Darnold was fresh off underwhelming stints across the league before he teamed up with Justin Jefferson to guide the Vikings to the playoffs in the 2024 season.
The $6,250,000,000 Forbes valued Vikings let Darnold walk in free agency, and the veteran signal-caller joined the Seattle Seahawks for the 2025 campaign. Darnold then had another Pro Bowl season whilst guiding the Seahawks to a Super Bowl LX win.
The Vikings are in the market for a veteran quarterback to battle with J. J. McCarthy for the QB1 spot. Kyler Murray could be the perfect fit, and it could be an avenue to rediscover the form that earned him a five-year, $230.5 million contract.
Kyler Murray is looking to put injury woes behind him
Kyler Murray’s professional football career has been plagued by injuries. The two-time Pro Bowler is one of the best dual-threat QBs in the league when fit, but he’s hardly been fit over the past few seasons.
According to Draft Sharks, Murray missed 12 games in the 2025 season due to a Grade 1 pedal foot injury. The former Heisman Trophy winner suffered the injury in his team’s Week 5 loss against the Tennessee Titans.
Murray was subsequently placed on the injured reserve while the Cardinals went with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback. The Cardinals opted to shut Murray down for the rest of the season on December 5, 2026.
Other notable injuries suffered by Murray include a torn ACL in 2022, a hamstring strain in 2022, a pedal ankle sprain in 2021, and a shoulder AC joint sprain in 2020.
Murray could do with a change of scenery, and it’ll be interesting to see what the Cardinals demand in a trade package for the dual-threat star. He’ll be one of the biggest names to watch out for during the offseason.
