Jacob Bridgeman took a lighthearted jab at Tiger Woods after his win at the Genesis Invitational. The American golfer won his maiden PGA Tour event on Sunday, Feb. 22, at The Riviera Country Club. He registered a one-stroke win over Kurt Kitayama and Rory McIlroy.
The tournament is hosted by Tiger Woods, and after winning it, Jacob Bridgeman opened up about the 15-time major champion. He talked about how he won the Genesis Invitational, a tournament Woods has never won.
“I don’t know what he said when I first walked up the hill, but walking down the hill he was saying kind of how amazing walking down and seeing the amphitheater and all the people, how amazing the 18th hole is here and how cool it is to win here,” Bridgeman said. “And he said, You’ve got one on me. So I guess he’s never won yet. I got one thing. He’s got all the other ones, but I got one.”
Tiger Woods has won 82 PGA Tour events in his career, but not the Genesis Invitational. His last win on the Tour came in 2019 at the Zozo Championship, where he registered a three-stroke win over Hideki Matsuyama.
Jacob Bridgeman opens up about winning a tournament hosted by Tiger Woods
Jacob Bridgeman started his campaign at the Genesis Invitational with an opening round of 66. He then carded the next round of 64, followed by another round of 64.
He played the final round of 72 and finished with a score of 18-under. With that, Bridgeman secured his maiden PGA Tour victory. In the post-round press conference, he opened up about winning a tournament hosted by Tiger Woods.
“Knowing he was the one to be waiting to shake the winner’s hand made it definitely a little bit more nerve-racking just because when I was growing up, my youngest golf memory was watching him on TV,” Bridgeman said. “When he was in his prime, I was learning to talk and walk and play golf.
“He’s the best player of all time by far. I think some of the things that he’s done on the golf course are incredible, will never be beaten. I’m still kind of in awe of him, and if you ever wanted to pass some time, just look up some Tiger Woods highlights, it’s pretty incredible,” he added.
Before this, Jacob Bridgeman had some notable finishes on the PGA Tour in 2026. He was tied for fourth place at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He then played at The American Express and settled in a tie for 13th place. His other notable finishes include a tie for 18th at the WM Phoenix Open and a tie for eighth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
