The rise of Caleb Williams in the 2025 season has led to comparisons with Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love for the top quarterback in the NFC North. After falling short of expectations in his rookie year, Williams played a pivotal role in the Chicago Bears’ success last season.
Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn entered the debate with a post on social media Sunday, sparking widespread reaction across the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers insider argued that Williams is a superior player to Love and suggested the Packers would prove it if given the opportunity.
“The Packers would trade Jordan Love for Caleb Williams in a heartbeat,” Cohn wrote on X.
Cohn’s post drew a sharp response from Terrence Parsons Jr., the brother of Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons. He dismissed the analyst’s claim with a pointed question, intensifying the controversy.

“Are you sane.?” Parsons Jr. responded.
Caleb Williams threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns with seven interceptions during the 2025 regular season. Jordan Love, by comparison, recorded 3,381 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. The debate over who is better is expected to intensify next season.
Jordan Love makes the PFF’s top 101 players of the 2025 season, Caleb Williams misses out
Pro Football Focus released its list of the top 101 players based on performance across all positions in 2025. Amid the ongoing debate, Jordan Love ranked No. 37, while Caleb Williams did not make the list.
“Love made a definitive leap during the Packers’ 2025 campaign, helping the team look the part of a Super Bowl contender before injury,” PFF wrote. “His 88.7 PFF passing grade ranked second among qualified passers, and his 5.9% big-time throw rate also trailed only Matthew Stafford. Love diminished his turnover-worthy play rate from 3.2% to 2.6%, entering rarefied air this season.”
Love appeared on PFF’s season-ending list for the second time, having previously ranked No. 89 in 2023. He joined safety Xavier McKinney (No. 66) and edge rusher Micah Parsons (No. 13) as the only three Packers players to earn spots in the rankings.
