Adam Scott withdraws from the Cognizant Classic at the last minute

Adam Scott was in the field for the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach, Florida, this week.

However, after his fine showing at Riviera last week, Adam Scott has decided to withdraw from the Cognizant.

The 45-year-old Australian produced some scintillating golf at the Genesis Invitational, carding two rounds of 63 during the week.

If Tiger Woods plays in The Masters this year, will he make the cut or miss the cut

One of his 63s came on Friday, and Scott still left Riviera that day with a sour taste in his mouth, because he felt he should have scored even better.

The 2013 Masters champion has worked incredibly hard on his fitness and strength, in order to remain competitive on the PGA Tour.

Scott has gained ball-speed over the past 12 months, and regularly clocks up 185 mph+ ball speeds with his driver.

Unfortunately, though, fans at the Cognizant Classic won’t get to see him in action this week.

Adam Scott withdraws from the Cognizant Classic at the last minute

Scott was one of the bigger names in the field at PGA National this week.

However, he obviously needed a rest after his exertions in Pacific Palisades last week.

The PGA Tour confirmed late on Monday that Scott has pulled out of the Cognizant Classic and will be replaced in the field by Chan Kim.

That’s a real shame for the Cognizant as a tournament, and those who were planning to attend this week.

Scott is a huge draw in the game, due to his exceptional ball-striking and his friendly demeanour.

It’s bad news that he won’t be in Palm Beach this week, but at the age of 45, Scott clearly needs to be picky regarding the tournaments he plays each season in order to avoid burnout.

Cognizant Classic field littered with withdrawals and late entries

The likes of Ben Griffin, Genesis Invitational champion Jacob Bridgeman, Taylor Pendrith and Patrick Rodgers have also withdrawn from the Cognizant.

Do you think Rory McIlroy will win a major in 2026?

His game is trending but winning majors is always an incredibly difficult thing to do…

And as a result, players like Sam Ryder, Adam Hadwin, Jackson Suber, Brandt Snedeker and Lanto Griffin have all been given last-minute entries into the field at PGA National.

There are still some big names in the field at the Cognizant, including Shane Lowry and the Hojgaard brothers.

However, the main draw will definitely be Brooks Koepka, with the former LIV golfer looking to secure his first top-10 since returning to the PGA Tour.

It should be a decent week of golf in Florida at the Cognizant Classic, but it is undoubtedly a blow for everyone involved with the tournament that Adam Scott will not be playing.
