Bryson DeChambeau has parted ways with LA Golf after playing with their shafts for a while. The American golfer won his 2024 U.S. Open with LA Golf shafts, but this week parted ways with the company.
As reported by Golf.com, the two-time major has asked for an increase in his stake in the company from 2 percent to 51 percent. LA Golf Partners’ chairman Reed Dickens has opened up about DeChambeau in a telephone interview with Golf.com.
“Bryson and I actually have some of the same tendencies, and I have nothing but respect for him,” Dickens said. “But he has this new consultant, a McKinsey-consulting type guy, and this guy says to me that Bryson is gonna walk unless he gets 51 percent. Bryson’s got 2 percent of the company. And I think the guy doesn’t realize that he’s dealing with a redneck. And I say, ‘There’s no path for that.’ They played chicken with me, and now we’re going to graciously part ways.”
“…Bryson needs someone serving him 24 hours a day, he needs somebody to build him his own clubs, and that’s not scalable for us,” he further added.
Notably, Bryson DeChambeau was long associated with LA Golf and found success on LIV Golf as well as in the majors. The American golfer is enjoying a good time playing on LIV Golf last season.
He won the LIV Golf Korea event, and some of his other best finishes from last season include a solo fifth in Miami, T2 in Mexico City, T4 in Virginia, and T9 in Dallas.
Bryson DeChambeau kicks off the LIV Golf 2026 season with solid finishes
Bryson DeChambeau kick-started his campaign on the Saudi league in Riyadh earlier this month. He started his campaign with an opening round of 68 and talked about his performance in the post-round press conference. He said (via ASAP Sports):
“It was great. I hit a perfect drive off the first and made double on the second, so great start to the year. It was fine. I played good coming in, despite the double, and a couple missed opportunities on the par-5s and one on 18, or it could have been an 8-, 9-under round. Pretty pleased with how everything went. Got to work on my putting a little bit. Left a few short out there. Besides that, playing good golf and excited for the year.
He then carded rounds of 71, 67, and 68. He was tied for 17th place in the event.
Bryson DeChambeau then played the LIV Golf Adelaide event and recorded a solid T3 finish. He started the event with an opening round of 66 and then posted rounds of 67, 64, and 74.
