Marco Penge has shared a happy news off the course, announcing the birth of his second child in an Instagram post from the hospital. The English golfer revealed that he and his wife Sophie have welcomed a baby boy named Romeo.
Romeo was born on February 24, 2026, making the Penge family a family of four. The couple already share a son, Enzo, who will turn two later this year. Marco Penge posted a family selfie from the hospital to share the update with fans.
While Marco Penge has been busy competing, Sophie had been at home preparing for the baby’s arrival. The couple are now parents to two boys as they continue to balance family life with Marco’s growing career.
Sophie Penge is also a former professional golfer. As an amateur, she won the 2016 Ladies’ British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and took the Smyth Salver as low amateur at the 2017 Women’s British Open. She and Marco also won the Sunningdale Foursomes together in 2016.
The two have been together since February 2015, when they met as teenagers with dreams of becoming professional golfers. They married in July 2023 and welcomed their first son Enzo, in June 2024.
Long before their professional careers took shape the couple made history in junior golf. In 2013 and 2014 they became the first Boys’ and Girls’ Fairhaven Trophy champions to defend their titles in the same years.
Speaking previously about their relationship Penge said,
“I met her when I was 15. It’s nice to have that support of a wife who understands kind of what it takes to be one of the best golfers in the world. So yeah, couldn’t ask for more.”
Sophie stepped away from professional golf in 2022. According to her LinkedIn she later worked as an operations and marketing coordinator at Per4m Health before going on maternity leave after Enzo’s birth. Even though she no longer plays professionally she is often seen supporting Marco at tournaments and celebrating his milestones on social media.
Marco Penge, who is ranked No. 34 in the world, has recently relocated from England to West Palm Beach, Florida, ahead of his first full season on the PGA Tour. He earned his card for 2026 after winning three times on the DP World Tour last year and finishing second in the Race to Dubai.
How Marco Penge has played so far in 2026
Along with the big news at home, Marco Penge has been adjusting to life on the PGA Tour this season.
He was set to start earlier but illness delayed his debut. He finally made his first start at the Farmers Insurance Open. The start was not ideal. He missed the cut at Torrey Pines and followed that with another early exit at the WM Phoenix Open.
There were signs of progress at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the first Signature Event of the season where he finished tied for 64 at four under par. He built on that at the Genesis Invitational, carding 10 under par to secure a tied 16th finish, his best result so far on the PGA Tour.
With a newborn at home he may take some time off but big events are coming up. He is expected to make his first appearances at TPC Sawgrass and Augusta National later this year.
His steady progress follows a breakthrough 2025 season. He started that year ranked 461st in the world and went on to win in China, Denmark and at the Spanish Open. Those results lifted him to 31st in the rankings.
