“It is easier to find George Pickens”: Nick Wright urges Jerry Jones to offer $2,695,000 star 10-year contract extension over Cowboys WR

The Dallas Cowboys have a few important roster decisions on their agenda with star wide receiver George Pickens’ contract negotiations being one of them.

However, Pickens isn’t the only Cowboys player in negotiations with the team over a new contract as Pro Bowl kicker Brandon Aubrey is also seeking a new contract this offseason.

NFL analyst Nick Wright urged Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to prioritize the contract of Aubrey, who is on a $2,695,000 deal. He urged the Cowboys to offer him a blockbuster deal on “First Things First” on Wednesday.

“I would be way more bummed out, as a Chiefs fan, if any of those teams got Brandon Aubrey than if they got George Pickens, and they all need wide receivers,” Wright said. “They all need wide receivers, and I would be more bothered by them getting Brandon Aubrey than I would George Pickens.”

“I’d give him a 10-year, $75 million contract, $50 million guaranteed. The kicker version of the Mahomes deal. It is easier to find George Pickens than Brandon Aubrey, and so I would prioritize him.”

Kansas City Chiefs’ Harrison Butker is the highest-paid kicker in the league, making $6.4 million per year. The contract proposed by Wright would make Aubrey the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.

Cowboys EVP says team would “love” to re-sign Brandon Aubrey

Brandon Aubrey joined the Cowboys in 2023 and has made the Pro Bowl in three consecutive seasons for Dallas. The Cowboys have reportedly offered a league-high $6.4million-per-season deal to Aubrey.

However, the three-time Pro Bowler is seeking a deal that earns him $10million-per-season, according to ESPN. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said they have not been able on a contract.

“It’s been a journey,” Jones said. “We hadn’t been able to get to a point where we can all agree, so it hadn’t gotten done. But we’d love to get him done.”

The Cowboys are reportedly looking to place a second-round tender, valued at roughly $5.8million.
