Jerry Jones reveals true feelings on working with George Pickens’ agent David Mulugheta amid Cowboys WR’s contract drama

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has grabbed headlines for his comments at the NFL combine this week. Jones addressed the ongoing contract negotiations saga with wide receiver George Pickens.

The Cowboys placed a franchise player tag on Pickens on Friday. While the tag cost the team around $27.298 million, it hints at the Cowboys’ desire to sign Pickens to a long-term deal.

Jones said on Friday that he has “no issues” in working with Pickens’ agent David Mulugheta to secure a long-term contract with the Pro Bowler.

“Regarding his representation, I can clearly work with his agent,” Jones said. “I have no issues. We haven’t met, but to the end that we can have discussions about (Pickens) and other players that he represents, we understand the angst that’s there, how he’s representing, and his goals of maximizing the dollars.”

Jones’ comments this week were a stark contrast to his remark about Mulugheta last year, when the Cowboys were negotiating a contract with his agent, Micah Parsons.

“The agent is not a factor here,” Jones had said. “And I don’t know his name. I’m not trying to demean him in any way, but this isn’t about the agent. The agent doesn’t have one thing to do with what we’re doing when we get on a football field as a team.”
