Jon Rahm has reportedly helped his fellow LIV Golf players stranded in the Middle East reach Hong Kong safely. This week, the Saudi league players are gearing up to play at the Hong Kong event.

However, reportedly, eight players, including Lee Westwood, Laurie Canter, Thomas Detry, Sam Horsfield, Anirban Lahiri, Adrian Meronk, Caleb Surratt, and Tom McKibbin, were stranded in the Middle East. However, they made it to the event on a private jet arranged by Rahm.

Golf analyst Alan Bastable shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption:

“Just learned the LIV players stranded in the Middle East have arrived safely in Hong Kong on a private jet commissioned by their LIV stablemate Jon Rahm”

Notably, the 2026 LIV Golf Hong Kong event will kick off with its opening round on Thursday and will have its finale on Sunday. Ahead of the start of this season, the Saudi league changed its format from a 54-hole stroke-play format to a 72-hole stroke-play format.

Jon Rahm attended a pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday and is looking forward to this week’s event.

Jon Rahm shares excitement to play LIV Golf Hong Kong

Jon Rahm has played in two tournaments this season in LIV Golf and is now looking forward to his third event. In a pre-tournament press conference held on Tuesday, the Spanish golfer opened up about playing in Hong Kong.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “I’m feeling good. I look forward to this week as one of my favorite weeks of the year. It’s a fantastic city and a really fun golf course to play, so this is definitely a highlight with many other great weeks. Happy with my play so far. I wish I could have converted one of those wins.

“Obviously going to Sunday in Adelaide tied for the lead and even having a good cushion on the 5th tee with birdie chances coming after that, I’m kind of kicking myself,” he added.

Rahm also praised Anthony Kim for his impressive outing. The American golfer won the LIV Golf Adelaide event last month.

“Obviously I made a few mistakes, but Anthony Kim played one of the best rounds of golf I’ve ever seen anybody play, so very well deserved,” Rahm said. “I just wish I would have had a better chance coming down 18. Besides that, yeah, looking forward to the rest of the year, as well. I’ve obviously been playing really good golf, and I’m hoping to continue that form.”

Jon Rahm kicked off the 2026 season in Riyadh. He had a good time playing in the event and carded rounds of 67, 68, 67, and 62. He was the runner-up in the event. He then played at the LIV Golf Adelaide event and again recorded a solo second-place finish. He played rounds of 68, 63, 66, and 71.

Last year in Hong Kong, Jon Rahm had a solid finish. He was tied for sixth place after playing three rounds of 69, 64, and 66.
