Scottie Scheffler says he is not worried about his recent results as he prepares for the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. The World No. 1 will make his fifth start of the 2026 PGA Tour season this week.
Speaking to reporters at Bay Hill, Scheffler said a few rounds this season are not enough to change his approach.
“I mean, last year on tour, I led the tour in first round, second round, third round, and fourth round scoring. So I’m not too concerned over a very small sample size. When you look at the body of work for me this year, I’ve played four tournaments, so that’s 16 rounds. And I’ve always been a guy that’s been really good at staying in the present, doing what I need to do in order to go out and play well.
And so at 16 rounds, I’ve had 13 that have been really solid, and three that haven’t been as good. And so I’m still batting at a pretty nice percentage. And so if I wanted to dig deeper to it, you know, I could completely change how I approach tournaments, but I don’t think that would be very wise.”
Scottie Scheffler’s results this season support that confidence. He began the year by winning The American Express with a score of 27 under par. After that, he finished T3 at the WM Phoenix Open, T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and T12 at The Genesis Invitational.
In several of those events, Scheffler improved as the week went on. At the WM Phoenix Open he started with a two-over 73 but bounced back with rounds of 65, 67 and 64 to finish tied for third.
Something similar happened at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Scheffler opened with an even-par 72 and then followed it with rounds of 66, 67 and a closing 63 to secure a T4 finish. His latest start came at The Genesis Invitational, where he shot rounds of 73, 68, 66 and 65 to end the week tied for 12th.
Scottie Scheffler also pointed to his scoring numbers when explaining why he remains calm about his form. Last season he led the PGA Tour in scoring average at 67.99 after playing 20 events and winning six times. Through four tournaments in 2026, his scoring average sits at 66.94, which still ranks first on tour.
He now heads to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a tournament where he has already enjoyed success. Scottie Scheffler won the event in 2022 and 2024 and finished T11 last year. This week, he will try to win the tournament again and earn the red cardigan for a third time.
