Former Masters winner Trevor Immelman took a dig at Scottish folklore while reacting to a post about a gator at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This week on the PGA Tour, players teed it up at the third signature event of the season. The tournament kicked off on Thursday, March 5.

During the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, while Michael S. Kim was taking his shot on the sixth hole at the Bay Hill Club, a gator was spotted in the lake. Golf fan Rickey Roach shared a picture of the gator on his X (formerly Twitter) account. Immelman reacted to the post by resharing it on his X account with a caption:

“Is that the Loch Ness monster….lol.”

For the unversed, the Loch Ness Monster is a mythical creature in Scottish folklore. It is said to inhabit Loch Ness, a freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands. The creature is said to have a long neck and one or more humps.

Arnold Palmer Invitational Round 1 leaderboard

This week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational features a stellar field of some top-ranked golfers in the world, such as Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Ludvig Åberg, and others. After the opening round, Daniel Berger took the lead in the game. He carded a round of 9-under 63. Collin Morikawa tied for second place with Ludvig Åberg at 6-under.

Justin Thomas is also playing this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He made his return on the circuit after five months but had a tough start. He carded a 7-over 79 and tied for 70th place on the leaderboard.
