Two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Nik Bonitto’s name has been floating around as part of the offseason trade rumors. However, it looks like there is a definitive update to his status with the Denver Broncos.
On Saturday, NFL Insider Benjamin Allbright shut down all the rumors surrounding Bonitto’s potential trade. He claimed the Broncos will not part ways with their linebacker. He also clarified that they are not trading for Miami Dolphins wide receiver De’Von Achane.
“No, the Broncos have not made Nik Bonitto available and aren’t going to, no they haven’t tried to trade for Achane either. Any other made-up rumors I need to put the bed now?” Allbright wrote.

The Broncos drafted Nik Bonitto with the 64th overall pick in 2022. During his debut campaign, he recorded 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one tackle for loss. The linebacker quickly established himself as a key player on defense.
In September, the Broncos finalized a four-year, $106 million extension with Bonitto. This made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the franchise’s history. He helped the team emerge as the AFC West champions and qualify for the playoffs.
However, the Broncos’ Super Bowl hopes were crushed by the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game. Bonitto recorded 46 total tackles, 14 sacks and 14 tackles for loss with 28 quarterback hits.

Last month, Nik Bonitto and his teammate Pat Surtain II made an appearance on the “Up & Adams Show.”
During the interview, they were asked to share their thoughts on losing to the Patriots in the AFC championship game.
“I mean, obviously, it was really tough,” Bonitto said. “Just knowing how hard we worked to get there. Just how hard it is to even get to play in an opportunity like that, to be one game away from the Super Bowl.
“Obviously, the stuff with Bo kind of hurt us. We were excited for the moment. It’s just one that we felt it just kind of slipped us. But, I know I have a good team going ahead next year. We’ll definitely try to run it back.”
The Broncos received a first-round bye in the playoffs after being the No.1 seed in the AFC. However, quarterback Bo Nix suffered a broken leg during their divisional-round victory over the Bills, hampering their offensive firepower.
Jarrett Stidham served as the replacement in the AFC championship game. However, the Broncos ended up with a 7-10 loss.
