Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy had a unique take on Bam Adebayo’s sensational 83-point game against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. The Miami Heat center surpassed late NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game to lead his team to a 150-129 win over the Wizards, and posted the second-highest scoring game ever in league history.
However, McCoy didn’t feel too nice about Adebayo’s iconic performance as he compared it to Bryant’s 81-point game from January 2002.
“I’m not feeling it,” McCoy said on the “Speakeasy” show on Tuesday. “As a player, I commend Bam, congratulations! But I’m hurt, dang it. I’m a Kobe Bryant fan.
“Bryant had 81 points, was 60% from the field, 53% from 3-pointers. He shot 23 free throws, and made 18 of them. I’m not buying this. Congrats, Bam, that was a great performance. But I’m still rocking with the 81 from Kobe, bro.”

McCoy, a two-time Super Bowl winner, also pointed out that Bryant had a consistent high-scoring streak in the league, in comparison to Adebayo’s “once in a blue moon” big-game performances.
Adebayo went 20-for-43 from the field, 36-for-43 from the foul line and 7-for-22 from 3-point range against the Wizards.
Bryant, who played 20 years with the LA Lakers, won five NBA championships. He died in a helicopter crash in January 2020.

Last week, LeSean McCoy heaped praise on Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark while discussing some of the best athletes across sports.
“She is one. She’s the most influential women’s athlete of all time,” McCoy said on the “Speakeasy” show.
During her four years at Iowa, Clark set the all-time scoring record in the NCAA. She has also earned two All-Star honors in two years with the Fever.
