2023 Masters champ Mike Weir revealed that his 2004 Champions Dinner cost approximately $20,000. He revealed that he decided the menu in collaboration with his chef friend, who also received big praise in front of the legends.

Weir is an eight-time PGA Tour winner and now active on the Champions Tour. He has had top-ten finishes in all four majors, including a green jacket at the 2003 Masters.

For the uninitiated, the reigning Masters champion pays for the dinner, where all the former champions are invited as guests. In a recent podcast with Skratch, Mike Weir shared the details about his 2004 Champions Dinner, including the evening’s expenses.

“I don’t know exactly, but it was north of 20K for sure,” he revealed. “I had a friend of mine that was a good buddy growing up that’s a chef in Canada, and let him put the menu together. Augusta National was great, the club actually invited Alistair, my friend, to come and prepare the dinner. So he got to experience that.”

Weir shared that elk was the main course, besides Canadian items such as smoked salmon, wild boar, Canadian beers, wines and potatoes from Prince Edward Island.

“Byron Nelson, who was with us then, was the chairman of the dinner that evening and asked for Alistair to come up so we could give him a little applause and say job well done. That was really cool for both of us to experience,” he added.

How has Mike Weir performed at the Masters over the years?

Mike Weir has made 26 starts at the Masters Tournament and has missed a whopping sixteen cuts. He has had just six top-25 finishes and converted only two of them into top tens.

His only major championship win came in 2003, where he defeated Len Mattiace in a thrilling playoff to win the green jacket. He also made a T5 finish in 2005, but hasn’t had a noterworthy result since. In fact, he has missed seven cuts in his past eight starts at Augusta National.
