Is Cody Rhodes Turning into a Real Villain?
After seven years with the Arizona Cardinals, quarterback Kyler Murray was released on Wednesday. One day later, he agreed to join the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal.
On Wednesday’s episode of the “Pat McAfee Show,” the ex-NFL punter and his crew discussed Murray’s new journey under coach Kevin O’Connell. He also highlighted the poor report card scores of the Cardinals while providing his assessment of the quarterback.
“We think all that video game stuff (clause in Murray’s contract to spend independent time studying film without distractions from other things like video games) from years ago in a contract is all BS, because we’ve seen what the player’s report card is for Arizona,” McAfee said. “Like, we think maybe there’s no chance that they were enver going to be successful over t here, because everything was voteed F minus.
“Like, do we think Kyler Murray, maybe did check out because of how, … semmingly bush league operation out there was there. Do you think there’s a chance that Kyler Murray, maybe, as a young player, always good at everything, always winning top 10 pick in both had to mature a little bit. And then, when he looked around, he was like, ‘What are we doing in this entire thing?’ I think a fresh start for him, his talent, his ability, and especially being Kevin O’Connell, I think it’s a good thing.”

The Cardinals were the second-worst-ranked team when this year’s NFLPA report cards got leaked, even after NFL owners won a lawsuit to prevent their publishing. They have consistently been ranked as one of the worst teams in this league.
The Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray with the first overall pick in 2019. In 2022, they provided him with a five-year extension worth $230.5 million. However, the quarterback has only made the playoffs once with the team.
In seven seasons, Murray played in 87 games and recorded 20,460 yards and 121 TDs passing. Last season, he saw time in just five games while Jacoby Brissett played in the majority of the games.

Richard Sherman shares his thoughts on how Kyler Murray’s addition can help J.J. McCarthy
The addition of Kyler Murray establishes a veteran presence in the Vikings quarterback room, who relied on an underperforming J.J. McCarthy last season.
On Tuesday’s episode of the ‘Richard Sherman Podcast,” the retired Super Bowl champion discussed why bringing in Murray to the team is good for McCarthy’s development.
“This is going to help J.J. McCarthy in the end,” Sherman said. “This is what he needs. He needs to sit behind a veteran and learn, and just be comfortable in his role, and just get better, continue to develop. Maybe in the future, he can have a really good NFL career.
“I think, it’s going to help him, and it’s going to extend his NFL life more than if he just went out there for another season and started, and if he didn’t do well, … you’re looking at the beginning of the end for J.J. McCarthy’s career.”
After missing his entire rookie campaign due to an injury, McCarthy took over as the Vikings QB1 last season. However, his performance was underwhelming, seeing time in just 10 games because of injuries. They failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing third in the NFC North with a 9-8 record.
