Veteran analyst Brandel Chamblee has once again spoken out against LIV Golf. He recently said that the big crowd pictures from the South Africa event were used to “legitimize the oppressive regime.”
Chamblee is a former professional golfer and now a veteran analyst on Golf Channel. He is known for his controversial takes and has always been a big critic of the Saudi-backed circuit.
On Thursday, March 19, Sean Zak of Golf Magazine shared a photograph of Bryson DeChambeau surrounded by a large number of fans at LIV Golf South Africa. However, Chamblee felt it was just an eyewash and a manipulation tactic by the Saudi regime.
“Amazing to see how easy it is for someone who is being manipulated to help legitimize an oppressive regime look like a conquering hero,” he wrote on X. “The sole purpose of LIV is not to elevate golf or professional golfers, but the quiet replacement of conscience with what looks like competition.
When one fan pointed out that Chamblee was giving LIV more attention than it deserved, the 63-year-old replied…
“I may be giving LIV more “air than it deserves” but should any of us be giving less “air” to the deception of sportwashing than it deserves?
