
Bryson DeChambeau had an impressive start to his game at the LIV Golf South Africa event. The American golfer took a two-stroke lead in the game after making an eagle in the second round. The tournament kicked off on Thursday. He had a good start to the game and maintained the lead on Friday as well.
He started the second round with an impressive eagle on the first hole. Flushing It shared a video of Bryson DeChambeau’s eagle on its X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:
“Bryson DeChambeau just slam dunked one for eagle on the first to take a 2 shot lead at LIV Golf South Africa. He’s looking to win in back to back weeks heading into the Masters”
Notably, Bryson DeChambeau was pretty impressive with his game last week at the Singapore event. He started with an opening round of 67 and then carded the next three rounds of 65, 72, and 66.
Earlier this season on the LIV Golf tour, DeChambeau was tied for third place at the LIV Golf Adelaide event and T17 at the season-opening Riyadh event. He was tied for 24th at the Hong Kong event.
Bryson DeChambeau reflects his excitement for LIV Golf South Africa
The Saudi league made its debut in South Africa this week. Bryson DeChambeau kicked off his game in the tournament on Thursday with a birdie on the first hole. He made four birdies and a bogey on the front nine and four birdies on the back nine for an impressive round of 8-under.
In the post-round press conference on Thursday, DeChambeau opened up about the tournament and reflected his excitement to play in South Africa.
“First off, what an environment,” DeChambeau said. “I mean, this is what all of us players saw LIV Golf being and the potential of it. Whether it’s Australia or South Africa — South Africa showed out today, and it’s only Thursday. I’m quite impressed with the environment here and the people and the love that we felt today.
“It really energizes all of us players and makes us want to give back more. It’s awesome. Congratulations, by the way, to South Africa for showing up and showing out to what we know LIV Golf to be doing for the global game of golf,” he added.
DeChambeau started the second round of the LIV Golf South Africa event with an eagle and then added a birdie on the next hole. He made three more birdies and a bogey on the front nine. He is yet to complete the round.
LIV Golf South Africa is a four-day event and is scheduled for its finale on Sunday, March 22.
