LIV Golf made its debut in South Africa this week, as the star-studded field teed it up at The Club at Steyn City. The event has been a success, and it was announced by LIV that tickets for the final two rounds, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, were sold out.
Although there is no confirmation for the event to return in 2027, owing to the strong popularity, it has been hinted at a possible return. Golf analyst Josh Carpenter has shared an update on his X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:
“LIV announced it had sold out Saturday/Sunday tickets in South Africa after earlier saying 90K+ for the week. No confirmation on 2027 yet, but sounds likely. Regional managing director Chris Bentley told @SABCNews: “We want to be in South Africa for many years to come.”
Notably, the LIV Golf South Africa event kicked off with its opening round on Thursday, March 19. Bryson DeChambeau had a phenomenal start to his game this week.
He carded the opening round at 8-under and maintained the momentum in the second round as well. He played the next round at 6-under, followed by another strong round of 7-under. He is in a strong position to win his second straight event.
The American golfer took a two-stroke lead heading into the final round, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 22. Notably, before this, DeChambeau had won the LIV Golf Singapore. This week at the LIV Golf South Africa event, Branden Grace has also been impressive with his game. He sits at 19-under in solo second place, followed by Jon Rahm, tied for third place with Abraham Ancer at 18-under.
