New reports are surfacing regarding A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts after the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff elimination. Both of them have been in the spotlight throughout the 2025 campaign for all the wrong reasons. They struggled to show cohesion and chemistry on the offense, leading to reports of an alleged rift between them.
Initially, during the season, Brown had complained several times about not being targeted enough on the field by Jalen Hurts. This reportedly caused frustration in the locker room and impacted his productivity on the field. Now, as per an article by the “Bleeding Green Nation,” the wide receiver reportedly requested a trade on multiple occasions.
“RUMOR: #Eagles star WR A.J. Brown reportedly asked to be traded ‘numerous times’ this past season, with the earliest instance coming after Week 3, per @BleedingGreen. A situation to monitor.”

After acquiring A.J. Brown via a trade in 2022, he agreed to a three-year extension worth $96 million in April 2024. However, the wide receiver put up one of the worst performances of his NFL career this season.
Despite recording 1,003 receiving yards, it was the second-lowest mark of his seven years playing in the league. He also tallied seven touchdowns on 78 receptions in 15 games during the regular season.
On the other hand, Jalen Hurts has also been criticized heavily for his inconsistencies on the field. In November 2025, The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported that multiple offensive players were growing frustrated with the quarterback’s game plan approach.
Now, after their wild-card playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, The Athletic’s Mike Green doubled down on this narrative, claiming that Hurts has been a “source of internal frustration,” while the leaders of the team are unwilling to find fault in his game.
“Jalen Hurts has been the source of much internal frustration for the Eagles, including teammates other than A.J. Brown, per @MikeSilver. Coach Nick Sirianni, GM Howie Roseman, owner Jeffrey Lurie have been ‘reluctant’ to criticze Hurts.”
Hurts recorded 3,224 yards and 25 TDs passing and six interceptions during the regular season. During their loss to the 49ers, he completed 20 of 35 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown.
