Adam Schefter gives clear verdict on Giants GM Joe Schoen’s job security after 3rd losing season

Adam Schefter gives clear verdict on Giants GM Joe Schoen

The New York Giants have had another disappointing campaign. They are dead last in the NFC East with an underwhelming 3-13 campaign. The team already fired coach Brian Daboll back in November after a 2-8 start to the season.

However, fans have also been vocal about wanting the same course of action when it comes to GM Joe Schoen. This is the Giants’ third losing season with him at the helm, raising questions about his job security.

However, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Joe Schoen is set to remain with the Giants for a little while longer.

“I don’t think, I’m not expecting as much activity at the GM position this cycle as the head coaching position,” Schefter said. “Again, we got, right now, the Miami Dolphins have a GM opening. I know people have talked about the Giants.

“I don’t think the Giants are doing that. I think Joe Schoen is gonna be a there for a little bit of time. That’s my sense of things right now that Joe Schoen is safe.”

One of the positives of the team’s abysmal 2025 campaign was the development of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Since replacing veteran Russell Wilson as the team’s QB1, he has been impressive on the field offensively.

In 13 games, Dart tallied 2,042 yards and 13 TDs passing, along with 455 yards and nine touchdowns rushing. Last week, the team secured a 34-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. This helped them end their nine-game losing streak.Max Kellerman calls out Giants owner John Mara for retaining Joe Schoen despite disappointing resume

During his debut as the GM in 2022, the team managed to make the playoffs, where they lost to the Eagles in the divisional round. However, the failure to replicate this in the past three seasons has created a lot of frustration.

On Monday, Max Kellerman did not mince his words while questioning Giants owner John Mara for deciding to let Joe Schoen retain his job despite the poor results.

“I think Mara has his heart in the right place, in the best interest of the Giants, in the heart at heart, but rich, he has to rescue himself from base, from football operations,” Kellerman said on the “Game Over” podcast. “Ever since he really began running the team, they have been, except for what he inherited, where they were still good for a minute.

“But when this decisions affected the team, from then on, they’ve been a laughing stock, arguably the worst team in football, and it doesn’t end. And now they’re keeping the GM bad idea. He’s made bad deecisions. You’re going to keep him to make more bad decisions.”

The Giants next face the Dallas Cowboys in their regular-season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
