After Mackenzie Hughes, another PGA Tour star, Hideki Matsuyama, struggled with fan behavior at the WM Phoenix Open this week. During the third round of the event, streamer Jack Doherty made the headlines after he pranked during the game. A day later, another fan incident caught people’s attention.

Matsuyama was in contention to win the title, and while in a playoff, before he could hit a ball, he was interrupted by a fan in the crowd. A fan shouted, and he backed off.

Nuclr Golf shared a video of the incident on its X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:

“🗣️ “Get in the hole!” 😡 Hideki Matsuyama faced an early shout from a fan on his putt to try and win The Waste Management Phoenix Open, prompting him to back off. What should the penalty be for this?”

Hideki Matsuyama made a par on the playoff hole and lost to Chris Gotterup. The American golfer made a birdie to win the event.

Matsuyama started the game with an opening round of 68 and then played the next three rounds of 64, 68, and 68. He opened up about his disappointing loss in the press conference on Sunday.

“Was grinding all weekend,” he said. “Didn’t have my best stuff, but hung in there. I wanted to avoid the playoff as much as I could, but I just hit a bad tee shot there in regulation at 18 and Chris made a good putt there in the playoff. So hats off to him.”

Scottie Scheffler tied for third place in the game.

Jake Doherty banned from PGA Tour after his behavior at WM Phoenix Open

The fan shouted, and he gave him $100. However, soon after, a security guard approached Doherty and escorted him out of the grounds. He was later banned from PGA Tour events.

Doherty released a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account to talk about the incident.

“I don’t think you all could have possibly been soft these days,” Doherty said. “What has this world come to? Everybody is so soft, and you’re saying yelling ‘jacka**’ on a golfer’s backswing is the worst thing you can do. You guys act like I murd*r*d someone. Like, grow up—you guys are the softest generation ever.”

Mackenzie Hughes had a decent start to his game at the WM Phoenix Open with an opening round of 68. He then played the next round of 69 and t
