Andrew Novak slipped down in the Official World Golf Ranking despite winning the Grant Thornton Invitational. The American golfer teamed up with Lauren Coughlin for the LPGA Tour and PGA Tour co-sanctioned event.

They were in the lead after the third round and managed to extend it even after the final round, securing a three-stroke win in the game. However, despite winning the tournament, Novak slipped down one spot in the OWGR. He was ranked 32nd in the world ahead of the event and now sits in 33rd place.

This year, however, Andrew Novak has made a significant jump on the OWGR. He was outside the top 100 ahead of the start of the 2025 season. He missed the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii and slipped down to the 124th position in the OWGR from 123rd place.

However, with a solo third finish at the Farmers Insurance Open, he jumped into the top 100. He made another huge jump in the OWGR after the RBC Heritage. He was close to winning the event but settled in second place and jumped from 62nd to 34th place in the world rankings.

This season on the PGA Tour, Andrew Novak has had some notable finishes. He has played in 27 tournaments and made the cut in 19 of them. Some of his notable finishes include T13 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T13 at the Genesis Invitational, T3 at the Valero Texas Open, and T11 at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Andrew Novak opens up about his performance at the Grant Thornton Invitational

Andrew Novak and Lauren Coughlin started with an opening round of 57 at the Grant Thornton Invitational. It was a three-day event and had different formats for all the rounds. On the second day, they played in the foursomes format and carded a 68 to take the lead in the game.

After the final round, which they played in the modified four-ball format, they won the event. They carded a 63 on Sunday. In the post-round press conference, Novak opened up about his performance. He said (via Tee Shots):

“I had some pressure taken off of me I think coming down the stretch. Lauren’s probably the single most reliable golfer I’ve ever played with. I knew no matter what I was going to be hitting from the fairway. So I had a little rough patch off the tee in the middle, but kind of got it squared away on the back nine. Yeah, we were able to ring off some birdies.”

Lauren Coughlin also reflected on her game. She said:

“I think again we kind of knew we had a lot of holes left, so we knew that we could make plenty of birdies coming in, we’ll have plenty of chances. Andrew putted really great today, made a lot of birdies for us. So yeah, it was a lot of fun.”

Charley Hull and Michael Brennan settled in second place at the Grant Thornton Invitational. They finished in a three-way tie with Jennifer Kupcho and Chris Gotterup, and Nelly Korda and Denny McCarthy.
