Anthony Kim is working hard to make a return to LIV Golf after being relegated from the Saudi-backed league. The former PGA Tour winner is preparing for the LIV Golf Promotions event, which gives players a chance to earn a spot back on the tour.
The 40-year-old regularly posts glimpses of his practice sessions on social media, giving fans an inside look at his preparation. On Sunday, December 28, Kim shared clips on his Instagram story showing him practicing his putting alignment. Wearing a black hoodie and shorts with white sneakers, he captioned one clip: “1% better.”

A week earlier, he posted a carousel of videos on Instagram focused on his swing. He wrote:
“Still working on the setup & fundamentals but headed in the right direction. Wat ur swing looks like doesn’t really matter as long as u can repeat the same move. The last swing checks the boxes for the things I have been working on now for 2 years. Gotta keep workin 👊 1% BETTER SOBER is DOPE 🔥.”
Anthony Kim had a tough 2025 season in LIV Golf. His best finish was a tie for 25th in Dallas. In six of his 13 starts in the league, he finished 50th or worse. He was relegated in August after failing to earn enough points.
However, Kim has shown signs of progress in other competitions. He made four cuts in five starts on the Asian Tour and tied for fifth at the PIF Saudi International, marking his first top-10 finish in several years.
With no direct path through the International Series standings, the Promotions event is now his clearest route back to LIV Golf.
How the LIV Golf Promotional Event could pave Anthony Kim’s way back
Anthony Kim has a clear path to return to LIV Golf through the upcoming LIV Golf Promotional event, scheduled from January 8 to 11 at Black Diamond Ranch. After being relegated, this tournament is his best and most direct chance to earn a spot in the league.
But this isn’t going to be a cakewalk for Kim. He first needs to finish inside the top 20 on the opening day to move forward. Scores will then reset, meaning every round becomes a fresh test. The same rule applies after the second day, with only the top performers advancing again.
The final stage is where everything is decided. The last two days form a 36 hole shootout, and only the top two players at the end will secure LIV Golf cards for the 2026 season. If Kim wants back in, he has to finish among those two.
Kim will face competition from experienced names, including International Series winners Miguel Tabuena, Ollie Schniederjans, and Wade Ormsby, along with former LIV golfers such as Ben Campbell, Matt Jones, Andy Ogletree, Max Rottluff and John Catlin.
Still, Anthony Kim has shown steady improvement in recent months, and this event gives him a clear target. A strong showing across all four days could be enough to put him back on the LIV Golf roster.
