Ben Roethlisberger called out the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday regarding the level of team they’ve built around Aaron Rodgers this season. The Steelers picked up Rodgers as a free agent during the offseason and have assembled a team that can compete in the league.

Speaking on his podcast “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger,” the legendary quarterback commented on how good the Steelers are right now compared to his late seasons. His words saw him take a shot at Kendrick Green, who left the Steelers in 2022 for the Houston Texans.

“I just think it’s funny because they’re giving Aaron DK [Metcalf] and all these things, and I got a center that never played center before in my last year. It’s amazing,” Roethlisberger said.

Kendrick Green was recruited by Illinois in the class of 2017 as a defensive tackle. However, he transitioned to the offensive line after his redshirt season. He started as a left guard in most of his career with the Fighting Illini, playing as a center in just three games as a junior.

Green was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft and was deployed as the starting center in his rookie season, which coincides with Roethlisberger’s final season in the league.

Aaron Rodgers comments on Ben Roethlisberger’s career with the Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger was at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday alongside the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl XL winning team to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the victory. Following the 27-20 win against the Colts, Aaron Rodgers commented on Big Ben’s career with the Steelers.

“I’ve known Ben for years and years and years, going back to the early title days and he was picked in the draft before me,” Rodgers said. So I obviously knew about his game, and we played a long time. We got to play each other a couple times, but a lot of respect for him and his career, what he accomplished.”

“He won the Super Bowl in what, his second year? That’s pretty impressive. And I appreciate everyone watching the next two. It was kind of the standard with him and Marino until I guess they got missing one or two. But it seemed like him and Marino and maybe Jayden last year, three quarterbacks you think about having success in a rookie year.”

Ben Roethlisberger played 18 seasons with the Steelers, winning two Super Bowls. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in passing yards twice. Aaron Rodgers, who has spent most of his career with the Green Bay Packers, admitted in his postgame press conference on Sunday that Pittsburgh is Big Ben’s team and he’s happy to be part of the organisation.
