This is one of the best books I’ve ever read on all things putting and incidentally Ken Brown is one of the best things about golf on TV in the last 20 odd years.
Brown won his first and only PGA Tour title in the 1987 Southern Open. Apart from that, he has four wins on the DP World Tour and competed in five Ryder Cups during his days as a pro. After retiring from the sport in 1992, Brown started his career as a golf writer and commentator.
Before today, Brandel Chamblee praised Brown back in 2018 regarding that year’s edition of the latter’s book, “One Putt: The Ultimate Guide To Perfect Putting.” One of Chamblee’s past social media posts also revealed his admiration for a book that was written by another former PGA Tour pro.
When Brandel Chamblee chose Bobby Locke’s book as one of his favorites
In 2024, the veteran golf analyst was involved in a social media back-and-forth regarding Ben Hogan’s putting. When an X-user claimed that Hogan was not considered a “good putter,” Chamblee replied, stating that it was a myth.
Brandel Chamblee also stated in his X repost that four-time Open champ Bobby Locke called Hogan the best putter in the former’s book, On Golf. He also revealed the aforementioned book being on the list of his favorites:
“…Historically considered the best putter of all time, Bobby Locke, wrote “On Golf”, which is amongst my favorite golf books ever written, and in it he named the best in the game with every club down through the bag and he named Hogan as the best putter in the game…”
Take a look at Chamblee’s X post:
That Hogan wasn’t a good putter is a myth that largely owes to his problems on the greens later in his career which coincided with golf being on TV. Historically considered the best putter of all time, Bobby Locke, wrote “On Golf”, which is amongst my favorite golf books ever
One of Chamblee’s X posts shared that Locke’s book was ranked in second place in the list of the former’s top 5 golf books. Apart from being an avid reader, Chamblee is also the author of “The Anatomy of Greatness”.
