Brandt Snedeker claims unique advantage over competition at Valspar Championship 2026

Following the second round of the Valspar Championship 2026, Brandt Snedeker is in contention for the title. However, as per him, he has a unique advantage over the competitors, as he is comparatively fresher and has “more energy.”

On Thursday, March 20, Snedeker carded a 1-over 72 in the opening round of the Valspar Championship 2026. The 45-year-old is tied for fifth at 5-under and is four strokes behind the lead after 36 holes.

During the post-round interview, the nine-time PGA Tour champion shared the advantage he had over the field.

“I haven’t played any weekends this year,” he said. “So I have more energy than all these guys I’m playing against. But I’m excited. I feel like my game’s in really good shape, I got to tighten some things up, but I always love the opportunity to play on the weekends out here.”

For the uninitiated, Brandt Snedeker’s last win had come eight years ago at the Wyndham Championship. Since then, he has had just a handful of top-ten finishes, including one runner-up. Speaking of this season, he hasn’t made a cut in his four starts, but this week he is in a good position ahead of the weekend.

“Try to take a positive from that.,” – Brandt Snedeker reacts after making the cut at the Valspar Championship

During his post-round interview, Brandt Snedeker said that while he was happy with being in contention, he was disappointed with his finish.

“Had some chances to kind of go, be up there closer to the lead,” he said. “But the good thing is it’s playing really tough and tricky this afternoon. Try to take a positive from that. Hung in there when things weren’t going great. I made some good swings down the stretch to give myself some chances and hopefully the putts will go in tomorrow.”

“The greens got really crispy, really hard to make putts. Hopefully kind of work on some things tonight and get ready for tomorrow. I’m excited to see what I can do over the weekend,” he added.

Snedeker is paired alongside Gary Woodland for the third round of the Valspar Championship. The duo will begin on Saturday, March 21, at 1:15 pm ET from the first tee.

Following the second round, Snedeker is four strokes behind Sungjae Im, who shot 2-under 69 on Friday. David Lipsky jumped to second after firing a 65, while Doug Ghim and Chandler Blanchet were tied for third at 7-under.
