Cameron Young opens up about his kids supporting him at The Players Championship
Cameron Young kick-started his outing at The Players Championship 2026 with an opening round of 68. He then played the next round of 67, followed by the third round of 72. He carded the fourth round of 68 and settled with a score of 13-under.
He registered a one-stroke win over Matt Fitzpatrick. After he won the game, his kids and wife ran toward him and celebrated the big moment. In the post-round press conference, Young opened up about his kids.
“It is, for sure. I’ve dreamed of having that moment with them for a long time, and last year at the Wyndham Championship happened to be one of three weeks that they missed all year last year,” Young said. “So they were celebrating 2,500 miles away.
“To get to see them after I went and did my interviews and stuff and got to actually, you know, give my boys a hug, see my wife, see my little girl, that’s something I’ll remember for a long time. Yeah, there’s a lot going on out there. My kids are more interested in the drone than the trophy, which I think is a really nice bit of perspective on a day like today, but, yeah, really thankful to have them here,” he added.
After three rounds, Ludvig Åberg took the lead in the game. He carded a round of 76 on Sunday and slipped four spots on the leaderboard to settle in a tie for fifth place.
Meanwhile, earlier this season, Cameron Young finished T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T7 at The Genesis Invitational, and T22 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
