Charley Hull made a strong start at the Grant Thornton Invitational in Naples and gave fans a closer look at her day by posting her Round 1 photos on Instagram. The English star, paired with Michael Brennan, opened the mixed event with a record 17-under 55 on Friday.

In her post, Hull wore a light, patterned long-sleeve quarter-zip from Malbon Golf, paired with a dark green pleated Malbon skirt. She completed the look with a white cap, white socks and white shoes. Her caption read:

“All in the details, @malbongolf 👌 Round one vibes⬆️”

Hull and Brennan were one of two teams to reach 17 under. Lexi Thompson and Wyndham Clark matched the score to share the lead. Their quick start also broke the previous tournament low of 16 under 56 set by Nelly Korda and Tony Finau in 2023.

Hull was originally set to play with Daniel Berger, but he withdrew at the last moment. Brennan replaced him, and the pairing clicked immediately. They made two eagles on the par-5 6th and the par-5 14th and kept mistakes to a minimum, posting only three pars all day. Thompson and Clark matched their pace with two eagles of their own, including one at the par-4 10th, keeping both teams tied at the top heading into the second round.

Charley Hull is focused on turning major close calls into wins

Charley Hull has been one of the most consistent players in women’s golf, but a major title is still missing from her career. The 29-year-old has won on both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, and is now looking for a breakthrough at the highest level.

Charley Hull has eight professional wins, including four on the Ladies European Tour. She has also enjoyed success on the LPGA Tour, where she has claimed three victories, most recently at the Kroger Queen City Championship in September.

Majors, however, have brought near misses. Hull finished tied for second at this year’s AIG Women’s Open and has also ended as runner-up at both the U.S. Women’s Open and the Chevron Championship.

Despite those near misses, Hull says she is keeping things simple as she looks ahead.

“I just want to win majors,” she told The Athletic.

She added that she prefers to stay focused on her work rather than overthinking results.

“I don’t think about it too much. I’ll just keep practicing and nip away at it.”

Charley Hull is currently competing at the Grant Thornton Invitational and heads into the week after finishing tied for 19th at the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburón Golf Club last month.
