Charlie Woods has made an early move to shape his golf future in his own way, signing with a different management agency than the one that has represented his father, Tiger Woods for decades.

According to a report by Josh Carpenter, the 17-year-old has signed with Players Group Management (PGM), a golf-focused agency based in Texas. Tiger Woods has been represented for years by Excel Sports Management, making Charlie’s decision a clear departure as he begins shaping his professional future.

Sources told Sports Business Journal that Charlie Woods, a member of the 2027 recruiting class, will be represented by agent Allen Hobbs. Hobbs also manages Miles Russell, the world’s top-ranked junior golfer and Charlie’s future teammate at Florida State University. PGM declined to comment publicly on the signing.

Players Group Management, founded in 2017 in Plano specializes in guiding golf careers both on and off the course. The agency handles sponsorship negotiations, tournament planning, travel logistics, public relations and brand partnerships aiming to support athletes through every stage of development.

The firm already represents several established professionals, including Sahith Theegala, Will Zalatoris and Caleb Surratt placing Woods alongside a growing list of notable players.

Despite the move, Charlie Woods has not yet signed any NIL deals. By contrast Russell already holds endorsement deals with brands such as TaylorMade, Nike and Liberty National Golf Club. Florida State’s golf program also has a long-standing apparel partnership with Nike.

Charlie Woods commits to the Florida State golf program

Charlie Woods has decided where he will play college golf confirming that he will join Florida State University. He shared the announcement on social media, writing,

“Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles.”

The news puts an end to months of speculation and gives Florida State a major addition to its 2027 recruiting class.

Head coach Trey Jones had been following Woods closely, including at the FHSAA Class 1A state championship where Woods shot 68 to help The Benjamin School win the title. Jones has built Florida State into one of the top programs in the country, leading the Seminoles to several strong NCAA finishes including a runnerup result in 2024.

Woods will join an already strong recruiting class that also features world No. 1 junior Miles Russell. The two have faced each other many times in junior events and will now become teammates.

He is not expected to arrive on campus until fall 2027, but the commitment is still a big win for the program. Florida State beat several top schools to secure his decision, further strengthening its reputation as a powerhouse in college golf.
