Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean’s younger brother, Beckett DeJean, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated early on Sunday. It happened just hours before the Eagles face the San Francisco 49ers in an NFC wild-card playoff matchup. TMZ broke the news on X.

“Cooper DeJean’s Brother Beckett DeJean Arrested for OWI,” TMZ tweeted.

Beckett was taken into custody at 1:09 a.m. and booked at the Ida County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa on a first-offense OWI charge. It is classified as a misdemeanor, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation regulations. However, it can result in fines, suspension of the driver’s license and possible imprisonment. The Daily Mail later reported that Beckett was released from custody.

Beckett serves as a defensive back for the South Dakota Coyotes. He redshirted his freshman year and was part of the scout team during the 2024 season. Just hours before the arrest became public, Beckett had reposted the Eagles’ post about Cooper’s All-Pro recognition alongside cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.

Cooper DeJean’s Philadelphia Eagles faces the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round game

Cooper DeJean and the Philadelphia Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in an NFC wild-card playoff. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field. It is a rematch of the 2022 NFC championship game, which Philadelphia won 31-7.

The biggest storyline for Philadelphia is its offensive struggles throughout the regular season. The Eagles ranked 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game), 24th in total yards (311.2) and 23rd in passing yards (194.3). The reigning Super Bowl champions averaged 19.4 points per game against teams with a winning record but managed 23.5 against squads under .500.

Philadelphia posted the worst three-and-out rate in the NFL at 28.1%. However, the team’s home-field advantage cannot be overlooked. The Eagles have won five straight playoff games at Lincoln Financial Field under Nick Sirianni, recording 14 takeaways with zero turnovers.

Meanwhile, the 49ers’ defense has been depleted due to two major injuries. Nick Bosa tore his ACL in Week 3, while All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner sustained a dislocated and broken ankle in Week 6, forcing offseason surgery.

San Francisco’s defense ranks last in the league with just 20 sacks and is tied for second-lowest in interceptions with six.
