ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back against Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan. The Steelers seemingly found stability with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback last season, but beyond that, nothing is certain for the AFC North team.
During Wednesday’s edition of “First Take,” Smith didn’t hold back against Khan. He called out the executive for failing to properly address the most important position in the game.
“Omar Khan, could you do your job? Do your job. How long is it going to take for you to find a quarterback?” Stephen A. Smith said. “At some point in time you ain’t playing. What are you doing? Somebody got to say it. Go find something other than a 42-year-old quarterback You gonna go the geriatric route and literally sit here dependent on this man to come back?
“We know what he is, but he’s 42. It’s one thing to have him on your roster. It’s another thing to sit back and wait for him. That’s a different issue altogether. That shows me you ain’t doing your job. Could you do your job please? Pretty please. Dang.”

The Steelers have had multiple starting quarterbacks in recent times, including Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson and Mitch Trubisky. Rodgers waited until June to sign a one-year deal with the team.
While nobody expects him to take the same time this season, the fact that the Steelers will have to wait again for Rodgers to make a decision rubbed Stephen A. Smith the wrong way.

Stephen A. Smith blasts Cowboys for tagging George Pickens
Stephen A. Smith’s crusade against iconic NFL franchises didn’t start with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before that, he called out the Dallas Cowboys for franchise tagging wide receiver George Pickens.
“Having Pickens under the franchise tag, I don’t know how good that is for the Cowboys,” Smith said.
“If he’s worried about his long-term future, he’s going to go out and make what we call business decisions. Sometimes, you might not go all out because you’re trying to preserve your health and make sure you’re in position for that long-term deal.”
The Cowboys could lose Pickens in free agency, but they won’t be left empty-handed. Still, it seems that after such a great 2025 season, the Lone Star would be more eager to retain the wide receiver.
