Brian Schottenheimer disclosed on Thursday that the Dallas Cowboys will be having DeMarvion Overshown back when they visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night. The return of the linebacker comes as a big boost for the defense, which has been significantly struggling.
Overshown tore his ACL, PCL and MCL last December in the Week 14 games against the Cincinnati Bengals, having appeared in 13 games. The linebacker was listed as a full participant in the Cowboys’ practice report on Thursday after being activated from the injured reserve.
In his media availability on Thursday, Brian Schottenheimer gave a cryptic update on how much the returning DeMarvion Overshown is ready to be involved against the Raiders. While the linebacker is expected to play, it’s not known how long he will make the field on Monday night.
“Is it fair to say he’s gonna play the entire game? Maybe, we’ll see, but there is kind of a ramp-up, pitch count that we have to see how he’s feeling,” Schottenheimer said.

Without a doubt, the struggling Dallas Cowboys defense needs the impressive playmaking ability of Overshown after failing to get things right for most of the ongoing season. The Cowboys are entering Week 11 ranked 31st in points and yardage surrendered.
The Cowboys drafted DeMarvion Overshown in the third round in 2023, but he didn’t see the field in his rookie season after tearing his ACL in the second preseason game. He, however, appeared in 13 games in 2024, registering 90 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks, four passes defended, and one interception return for a touchdown.
Brian Schottenheimer excited to return to action amid Marshawn Kneeland’s loss
The Dallas Cowboys are returning to action on Monday night after a bye in Week 10. Quite a lot has happened since then, with the sudden death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland most significant. Brian Schottenheimer is happy to be back and set to honor the late player.
“I’m excited to get back out there and just do what I love to do with the people I love doing it with,” Schottenheimer said. ‘I think the players feel that way. We had good energy this morning in the meetings, and the meetings were very productive. And like I said yesterday, we’re ready to get this week underway and put our best foot forward, getting ready to honor Marshawn.”
Marshawn Kneeland scored his first NFL touchdown in the Cowboys’ last game against the Arizona Cardinals. He recovered a blocked kick for a touchdown to open the scoring for his team in the second quarter. Brian Schottenheimer and his team will look to honor him with a win in Las Vegas on Monday.
