Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift opened up on his plans beyond the 2026 season. Swift signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Bears in 2024. As he enters a contract year, the veteran knows where he wants to spend the foreseeable future.
Following a bounce-back 2025 season, Swift is eager to extend his stay with the Bears. However, the team will have to answer the question of whether they want to keep him on the roster beyond the final year of his current deal.
“I have no idea, but hopefully I did enough for them to want me back because I know I don’t want to go anywhere else,” Swift told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. “I hope it plays itself out that way. I love the city, I love the coaching staff and the men that I work with. That’s out of my control, but if I had it my way, I’d be back. I don’t want to play nowhere else.”
D’Andre Swift was more effective in 2025, carrying the ball 223 times (30 times fewer than in 2024) for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. He went from 3.8 yards per carry in 2024 to 4.9 in 2025. The Bears finished with an 11-6 record and the NFC North division title over the Green Bay Packers.

D’Andre Swift credits Ben Johnson for remarkable 2025 season
D’Andre Swift only worked with Ben Johnson for one season in Detroit. He wants to continue working under the offensive mastermind after unlocking his game in 2025.
“First of all, Ben always believed in me as a player, so just him giving me opportunities was great,” Swift said. “The more opportunities I’m given, the more I can make stuff happen.”
Swift also said that he could use his hands more if required.
“I can do more,” he said. “I wish I would’ve been able to contribute a little more in the passing game. We’ve got so many pass catchers on the field, so whenever it does come up, I try to make something happen with it, but I do know I could do more.”
The Bears had one of the best offenses in the league last season. They showed that they can make noise in the NFC playoffs, and Swift is set to help them succeed.
