Tight end Dawson Knox’s stint with the Buffalo Bills might be coming to an end. On Friday’s episode of “Monday Mornings with Mitch,” he talked about his future with the franchise as his restructured three-year deal enters its final leg.
The tight end hinted at his departure by talking about how he wishes to continue developing under Bills TE coach Rob Boras, even if he leaves the franchise.
“Wherever I end up, I hope my TEs coach is there with me…” Knox said.

The Bills drafted Knox with the 96th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. In seven seasons, he has recorded 2,694 yards and 27 TDs receiving for his team.
In 2022, Dawson Knox agreed to a four-year extension worth $53.6 million with the team. Two years later, his contract was restructured to a three-year contract worth $29.5 million to give the Bills some cap space leverage.
At the moment, Dawson Knox has the fifth-highest cap figure on the Bills at $18.6 millon. If the team decides to cut him now, they will suffer $7.4 million in dead cap space. However, this would also free up $11 million in cap space, giving them more leverage to focus on roster building for the upcoming season.
During the 2025 campaign, the Bills qualified for the playoffs. However, their quest for a Super Bowl ended following a 33-30 loss to the Denver Broncos in a divisional round game. Knox recorded 417 yards and four touchdowns receiving during the regular season.
After the divisional-round loss, the Bills decided to fire coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons. The team is still on the hunt for a replacement as they try to find a solution to their playoff woes.
Dawson Knox predicted to join the Denver Broncos
AS Dawson Knox’s future with the Bills remains uncertain, one team has been making headlines as a potential candidate to scoop the tight end.
According to Fansided’s Chris Landers, the Denver Broncos would be a good fit for Knox under Sean Payton.
“Denver needs a steady option on the cheap to both provide a safety blanket for Bo Nix and help blocking in the run game. Dawson isn’t a primary option at this point in his career, but he’s a helpful and versatile piece, one that Sean Payton should now what to do with,” Landers wrote.
The Broncos finished the regular season as the No.1-seeded team in the AFC. They are scheduled to face the Patriots in the AFC championship game on Sunday.
