Former NFL star and Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders’ two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, were part of the 2025 NFL draft. While Shedeur was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round, his elder brother went undrafted.

Shilo was eventually signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. However, he was released by the team after punching a Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson during a preseason game.

The Colorado Buffaloes coach joined “First Take” during Super Bowl week and discussed his family. During the conversation, he talked about Shilo being cut by the Buccaneers.

“But it was tough for the Sanders family. Both of my daughters, Shilo getting cut. He went out swinging … I gotta give him that,” Deion said. “He went out swinging literally.”

Shilo was ejected from the game after punching Davidson and was reportedly fined $4,669 by the league for his actions. He cleared waivers and remained without a team during the 2025 season.

He hinted at taking up other ventures after being cut by the Buccaneers in August.

“I’ve been talking to my agent, and we’re waiting on the next opportunity, if that’s the NFL cool, but God’s blessed me with a lot of talents to do other things other than play football,” Sanders said.

Deion Sanders refused to coach in NFL because of Shedeur Sanders’ draft slide

Shedeur Sanders had a mixed rookie season with the Cleveland Browns in 2025. Although Shedeur got his big break during the 2025 season, Deion Sanders refused to let go of his controversial draft slide to the fifth round.

The Colorado Buffaloes coach said he won’t coach in the NFL after what happened with Shedeur during the 2025 NFL draft.

“Not whatsoever,” Sanders said on coaching in the NFL. “What transpired with my son last year, there ain’t no way in the world.”

Shedeur made seven starts for the Browns, posting a 3-4 record. He threw for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his rookie season.
