Tyrrell Hatton does not have a mental coach to deal with things during his games. The English golfer is preparing to play this week on the LIV Golf League in South Africa.
He attended a press conference ahead of the event on Tuesday and opened up about his plans for this week’s event. Hatton was also asked about how he deals with pressure and whether he has a mental coach to deal with things.
“I don’t think it would surprise you to hear that I don’t have a mental coach,” Hatton said (Laughter.) “Yeah, that just doesn’t work for me. I just kind of react to the situation that I’ve put myself in and then try and get on with it.”
Tyrrell Hatton has been impressive with his game so far in the LIV Golf and also on the DP World Tour this season. On the latter tour, he played at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and carded rounds of 70, 69, 76, and 71 to settle in T33 place.
Meanwhile, on the LIV Golf circuit, Hatton started his campaign with an impressive outing in LIV Golf Riyadh. He carded four rounds of 67, 72, 67, and 75. He then had a good performance at the Adelaide event, where he finished in T3 place. He later settled in T45 in Hong Kong and T10 at the Singapore event.
Tyrrell Hatton opens up about preparation for the Masters
The first major of the year, the Masters, is around the corner. The tournament will take place next month, and ahead of that, Tyrrell Hatton opened up about his preparation for the event.
He is going to play in the event for the tenth time in his career and talked about it in a pre-tournament press conference at LIV Golf South Africa on Tuesday.
“Yeah, so me and Tom, we’re going to fly up on the Sunday in the middle of the two weekends off,” Hatton said. “So we’ll play Sunday afternoon and then Monday morning and then go back to Orlando.
“It’s going to be my tenth Master’s, which seems somewhat crazy to say because I still feel and act like a kid, I guess. Yeah, my experience there and going with Tom, and it’ll be his first time, I’m excited to share that with him. I’m sure it will be a good couple of days,” he added.
Tyrrell Hatton made his debut at the Masters in 2017, but that year he struggled with his game and missed the cut. He then finished T44 in 2018. He had an impressive outing at the Masters in 2024, where he finished in T9 place.
The 2026 Masters is scheduled to take place from April 9 to 12 at Augusta National Golf Club.
