The Miami Dolphins, valued at $6.7 billion (per Forbes), have begun their search for a new head coach after firing Mike McDaniel following a 7-10 finish in the 2025 season and consecutive missed playoffs.

Owner Stephen Ross said the team needed “comprehensive change” after McDaniel’s four seasons, which included two early playoff appearances but no wins. Miami also moved on from longtime GM Chris Grier in October 2025 as organizational turnover accelerates.

Miami recently requested to interview Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, according to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero. Kubiak, a Shanahan-tree coach whose offense has thrived in Seattle, is one of several candidates being considered as the Dolphins’ leadership begins its search with the new GM in place.

Kubiak is expected to speak to the team on Saturday for the head coach role. In addition to Miami’s scheduled interview, multiple teams have already requested talks or set up interviews for the offensive coordinator. The Baltimore Ravens have completed an interview with Kubiak for their vacancy following the firing of John Harbaugh, and the Las Vegas Raiders are also slated to speak with him this cycle.

The Atlanta Falcons have formally requested to interview him, and reports indicate that the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals have also shown interest. He is the most popular young candidate among the teams.

John Harbaugh, recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens after 18 seasons, is the headline target for Miami and other teams this cycle. However, no interviews have been confirmed.

Mike McDaniel lands Titans interview days after Dolphins firing

Mike McDaniel is already drawing interest in the coaching market after being fired by the Miami Dolphins earlier this week. Less than 48 hours after his dismissal, McDaniel is scheduled to interview for the Tennessee Titans’ head coaching vacancy on Wednesday, according to reports.

Miami moved on from McDaniel despite a late-season improvement, deciding that winning six of the final 10 games was not enough to justify keeping him in the lineup. The decision surprised many, including McDaniel.

The Titans are coming off another difficult season, having won just three games in 2025 and finished at the bottom of the AFC South standings for the third consecutive year. Mike McDaniel now has a chance to quickly re-enter the league as a head coach while Miami begins its own search for a replacement.
