Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has finally let his feelings be known after the recent fallout from the club’s nixed trade bid for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.
Speaking to the media today, DeCosta fired back at those who suggest he and the Ravens had “buyer’s remorse” after initially agreeing to trade two first-round draft picks in exchange for Crosby’s services.
DeCosta suggested that those claims come from those who don’t know him or the Ravens organization, before expressing his regret over how the situation played out.
“I mean, I understand it,” DeCosta said. “I understand it. We live in that age of skepticism and people question, especially people that don’t really know me or know the Ravens, the culture of the Ravens organization. So I understand it…. Every decision we make is based on this idea, is this the best thing for the Ravens?”

DeCosta further continued:
“It’s very, very challenging. And I understand how people might, maybe from afar would feel that way. But nobody’s more upset about this than me, gutted by it, actually. And so – a regret, a big regret for me, but we will move on as a football team and I think there’s many, many opportunities for us to grow as a team, to become a better team, to build a roster, and to be the team that we wanna be.”

Baltimore Ravens fail to secure defensive centerpiece in Maxx Crosby

On March 6, the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens agreed to a deal that would see Baltimore’s next two first-round draft picks go to Las Vegas in exchange for Crosby. However, after a physical evaluation that Crosby underwent in Baltimore, the trade was nixed.
In an official statement, Las Vegas said Baltimore “backed out” of the trade and offered no further comment on the matter. The news came as a blow to Baltimore fans after the Ravens lost several key players to the first wave of free agency signings. Those players included C Tyler Linderbaum, TE Isaiah Likely, S Ar’Darius Washington, and S Alohi Gilman.
Several of those lost to free agency followed their former coach, John Harbaugh, to the New York Giants, while Linderbaum ironically inked a massive deal with the Raiders.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom for the Ravens flock, however. DeCosta and company got their answer at defensive end by signing former Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson from their division rival to a four-year, $112 million deal on Wednesday (March 11, 2026).
