In July 2025, following a viral incident at a Coldplay concert involving Andy Byron, then the CEO of tech company Astronomer (archived), an alleged video statement made by his wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, began circulating widely on social media.

The incident that sparked this claim occurred (archived) July 16, 2025, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, when Byron was caught on the “kiss cam” embracing Kristin Cabot, his company’s chief people officer. When they realized they were on the big screen, both Byron and Cabot quickly tried to hide, prompting Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to joke: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

In the days that followed, videos on social media purported to feature Megan Kerrigan Byron making an emotional statement about her husband’s alleged betrayal. For example, a July 19 TikTok video (archived) had more than 7.3 million views:

The video showed a woman appearing to speak as a statement was read:

Hello everyone, I’m Megan Kerrigan Byron.

This is the most difficult moment of my life. I never imagined I would be thrust into the public spotlight in this way. I never imagined that my husband would betray me. I always believed that my marriage with Andy Byron was built on trust, respect and pure love. Every time he told me there was something important at work and he couldn’t make it home on time, I believed him. But it turns out that during those times he was with another woman.

I naively thought he was working hard for our family, for our children, but the kiss caught on camera at the concert shattered everything. Seeing Andy and Kristin Cabot cuddle together then hurriedly separating when they noticed the camera brought me a level of humiliation and pain I cannot even describe.

I cannot accept Andy’s actions. He was once the husband I was proud of, the father our children respected most. His betrayal is not only a trampling of my personal dignity, it’s a betrayal of our entire family.

I have decided to leave him. I cannot tolerate sharing a bed with a man who has betrayed me. It’s utterly disgusting.

At the same time I don’t want my children to have face a father every day who doesn’t truly value them. I will take my children and leave this repulsive man behind.

Similar claims appeared on Facebook (archived), TikTok (archived) and Instagram (archived).

However, our investigation found this video was created using AI-generated narration. For this reason, we have rated this as a fake.

We found that the narration’s script was first posted (archived) at 6:41 a.m. EDT July 19 by a Facebook page named “Megan Kerrigan,” but the page was created on July 19 — three days after the Coldplay incident — and identified itself as a “digital creator.” The page’s manager posted multiple statements purporting to be from Megan Kerrigan Byron.

Resemble AI, an audio deepfake detection tool, classified the audio of a woman reading the statement as “fake”.

According to Newsweek, the real Megan Kerrigan Byron deleted (archived) her Facebook account following the incident.

Based on her deleted Facebook profile photo posted by Newsweek and other Facebook photos posted by The US Sun (archived) and New York Post (archived), the woman in the video did not resemble Megan Kerrigan Byron. We were unable to identify who the woman in the video actually was.
