It’s always a shame when we see a popular golfer forced into a mini hiatus from the sport but for Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston, it looks like the comeback is on.
Johnston shot to fame and popularity in the late 2010s when he finished inside the top ten at The Open and managed to gain a cult following among UK golf fans in particular
Since then, though, Johnston has not quite hit the heights his talent warrants as a series of off-course problems – which Johnston has openly discussed – and a number of injuries have held him back.

However, all is not lost for Johnston is seems.
And after setting up base camp over in Australia, ‘Beef’ is now back in action and making cuts on the DP World Tour.
Andrew Johnston makes the cut in first pro golf event in over a year
We might be ‘out of season’ in terms of the huge events in the world of golf but there is still plenty going on.
The International Series in the Philippines has some big names in, while the DP World Tour is hosting its Genesis Championship over in South Korea.
Indeed, Johnston has picked the Genesis as his first event since a recent thumb injury and in good news for him and his army of fans, he’s just made the cut.
Johnston has undergone surgery to fix that issue and is now planning on playing a series of events in the next few months, starting with the Genesis.
In typical Johnston fashion, it was never just plain sailing and he needed a birdie on the final hole to jump above the line for the weekend.

However, he has done it, and while he’s seven back of the leaders, Johnston will fancy giving himself a chance with some solid golf over the next two days.
Andrew Johnston’s best results on the PGA Tour
The PGA Tour is where most players love to get to and for Andrew Johnston, his time over in America was fleeting.
Johnston managed to secure a PGA Tour card for the 2017 season and played in 13 tournaments that season.
He made the cut eight times that year, finishing inside the top ten at the Puerto Rico Open while also finishing inside the top 30 at the Zurich Classic and The Open.
‘Beef’s’ only European Tour win came back in 2016 at the Spanish Open.
If he can somehow regain the form he showed in those years, then he might not be too far off giving it a go and getting his PGA Tour card back and secured.
