New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has shared an update on wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s return from injury. Wilson missed the Jets’ last two games before their bye week with a knee injury he picked up against the Denver Broncos in Week 6.
Glenn announced during a Monday press conference that the star receiver is set to return to practice this week. He said:
“He’s going to practice this week. So I’m looking forward to him getting out in practice. Let’s see how that goes during the week. I don’t wanna place too much on him right now. But I’m excited about him getting out and being in practice this week.”

Garrett Wilson has been away from practice since picking up the injury against the Broncos, being listed as doubtful in the Jets’ two subsequent games. With his return to practice announced on Monday, Jets fans can start hoping that he will be available against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The Jets won their first victory of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals just before heading on a bye week. The Jets’ offense put up a strong performance against the Bengals despite Wilson’s absence, scoring almost 40 points in the 39-38 win.
The franchise receiver was having a great season, despite the Jets’ terrible form, before he got injured. In the six games he’s featured this season, he has caught 36 times for 395 yards and four touchdowns.
What Garrett Wilson’s return will mean for the Jets’ receivers room
The Jets’ offense has found it hard to put up a solid passing game so far this campaign, with or without Garrett Wilson on the field. Nevertheless, his return will be a much-needed boost to the team’s wide receiver corps.
Aaron Glenn depended on Tyler Johnson, Allen Lazard, Arian Smith, Isaiah Williams, and Brandon Smith for the Jets’ receiving game in Week 8. Veteran receiver Josh Reynolds was placed on the injured reserve and will be out for the next four games.
The Jets’ next game is very winnable, considering that the Browns are another struggling side. However, there’s an uncertainty surrounding the Jets’ quarterback position, with Glenn refusing to name a starter. He said:
“You will find out soon who our starting quarterback will be, and Justin did a hell of a job against Cincinnati. But you know I’m going to keep that close to the vest.”
