Retired seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady showcased glimpses of his former self on Saturday. He and his team, the Founders, were a part of the Fanatic Flag Football Classic.

However, the ex-quarterback and his team lost both their games at the event. They first lost to the USA’s Flag Football Team and their second one to the Wildcats led by Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels.

On social media, Fox Sports shared a clip of one of Brady’s plays on Saturday. It showcased him juking a defender before throwing a touchdown pass to wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The former quarterback shared a cryptic tweet on this clip, hinting at the potential of making a return to the NFL.

“Gets you thinking… @Fanatics @NFLonFOX,” Brady wrote.

After 20 years with the New England Patriots, Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. In Feb. 2022, he announced his first retirement after two seasons with the team. The quarterback won his seventh and final Lombardi Trophy during Super Bowl LV.

However, just 40 days later, he announced his decision to return for one more season with the Bucs. In his final campaign, Brady helped the team qualify for the playoffs. However, they suffered a 31-14 loss to the Cowboys in a wild-card showdown. He recorded 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns passing.

In Feb. 2023, Brady announced that this time, he’s retiring “for good.” Since hanging up his cleats, he has been working as an analyst for FOX Sports. In addition, the former quarterback also serves as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin believes Tom Brady still has what it takes to play in the NFL

On Thursday, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin made an appearance on “First Things First.” During this interview, he shared his honest thoughts on Tom Brady potentially unretiring for a second time to play in the NFL.

“Look, I don’t want to speak for Tom,” Rubin said. “What I can tell you is, I believe that today, he’d be a top quarterback in the NFL if he wanted to play. I see him practicing. He’s been sending me videos.

“He’s still at an elite level. He’s in great shape. … You can’t break Tom Brady. … He’s not breakable.”

If Brady potentially suited up for this upcoming season, he would be 49 years old. Last year, we saw 44-year-old Philip Rivers come out of retirement to play for the Colts after Daniel Jones’ season-ending injury. In three games, he recorded 544 yards and four TDs passing.
