Former World No.1 Andy Roddick was one of thousands who was amazed by the determination shown by Carlos Alcaraz, as the Spaniard made quick work of rival Jannik Sinner to lift the 2025 US Open title.
Alcaraz did not drop a set en route to the final, dispatching of opponents with relative ease. The 22-year old was on a mission, bring home the US Open title that he last claimed in 2022.
Standing in Alcaraz’s way was Sinner, the World No.1 and defending champion. The Italian was almost as ruthless as Alcaraz en route to the final, dropping just two sets in his quest to retain the Flushing Meadows title
Both men would be meeting in their third consecutive Grand Slam final this season. Alcaraz had prevailed in a five-set thriller at Roland Garros, where he had to fend off several match points before claiming the title. Conversely, Sinner would avenge his loss at the Wimbledon Championships, stunning Alcaraz in a four-set display of skill and precision.
