The 2025 Hero World Challenge at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas offered a $5 million purse, with the winner taking home $1 million. Hideki Matsuyama claimed the title after a playoff win over Alex Noren, marking his second Hero World Challenge victory. The event was hosted by Tiger Woods who did not compete this year as he continues to recover from his seventh back surgery.
Matsuyama finished the week at 266, 22 under par. Noren matched the score in regulation forcing the playoff but Matsuyama secured the win with a short birdie putt on the 18th hole. Sepp Straka finished just one stroke behind in third place, earning $300,000. Scottie Scheffler who was aiming to make history as the first player to win the event three consecutive times, fell short and finished tied for fourth with J.J. Spaun at 268, 20 under par, each collecting $237,500.
The 20-player field was star-studded and had no cutline. Jordan Spieth and Chris Gotterup tied for 19th at even par, earning $152,500 each. Unlike regular PGA Tour events, the Hero World Challenge is not part of the FedExCup season and does not award FedExCup points.
